The Hong Kong Management Association held its 54th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday, 31 August 2015 at its Headquarters. Mr Alfred Chan BBS, Chairman of the Association reported that the year 2014 witnessed remarkable achievements in the work of HKMA, as timely and strategic moves have been made to strengthen the breadth of programme offerings.

Mr Chan reported that the Association established an Institute of Advanced Management Development (IAMD), in an effort to offer advanced management development and innovative programmes for senior executives as well as management consulting services for enterprises and the community at large. The IAMD is chaired by Prof Roy Chung, three senior executive development programmes by Cornell University and the University of Cambridge, and a Forum by Peter Drucker Academy have been organized and well-received by participants, while many other projects are in the pipeline, such as a senior executive development programme by Columbia University, an MBA programme by Fudan University, and a Luxury Marketing and Management programme by the Centre of Luxury Research of the University of Mainz, Germany.

In addition, in response to the trend of incorporating sustainability principles into business operations, the Association has set up a Sustainability Committee to educate the public about the importance of sustainability through a series of visits and seminars. Another important initiative will be establishing an Annual Sustainability Award to promote sustainable development and to recognize achievements in sustainability practices.

At the Council Meeting held immediately after the Annual General Meeting, Mr Alfred Chan BBS, Managing Director of The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited was re-elected as Chairman. Mr James Thompson GBS, Chairman, Crown Worldwide Holdings Limited and Mr Michael T H Lee JP, Director, Oxer Limited were re-elected as Deputy Chairmen.

This year, there are five new Council Members. They are:

A "Meet the Chairman and Council" Networking Drink was held immediately after the Council meeting at the Hong Kong Club. 60 Council, Charter, Corporate and Full Members attended the event.
