Mr James E Thompson GBS was appointed Deputy Chairman of
The Hong Kong Management Association

The Hong Kong Management Association is pleased to announce that Mr James E Thompson GBS, Chairman of Crown Worldwide Holdings Ltd was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Association. Dr Dennis Sun BBS JP, Chairman of the Association announced the appointment at the Associations 181st Council Meeting on Thursday, 16 January 2014.

Mr Thompson expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Chairman and members of the Council for their confidence in appointing him to this important role. He would continue to work closely with the Council and the Secretariat of the Association to achieve its missions.

Mr James Thompson is a highly respected and successful businessman. Under his visionary leadership, the Crown Worldwide Group of Companies, a logistics company performing various types of warehousing and transportation services throughout the globe, is now the largest privately owned company in the field of international removals with over 265 worldwide locations in almost 60 countries around the world. Crown Worldwide is also a leader in the field of document management with 22.3 million cartons of business documents managed from its worldwide facilities.

Mr Thompson first became involved in the work of the HKMA in 2006 on the Panel of Judges of the HKMA Quality Award. He has been a Council Member since 2010 and an Executive Committee member since 2013. He has given the HKMA his full support in different capacities, including Chairman of the HKMA Quality Award (2012 to present), Member of the Finance Sub-committee (2012 to present), Organizing Committee Member (2011-12) and Speaker (2003) of the Annual Conference, as well as Adjudicator of the Award for Excellence in Training and Development (2011).

Mr Thompson has served in a variety of capacities in different committees and statutory bodies and has earned great acclaim for his tireless dedication to serve our community. He is currently a member of the Investment Promotion Ambassador Scheme, HKTDC HK-EU Business Cooperation Committee and HK-Japan Business Cooperation Committee. He also served two terms as the Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong for 2002 and 2003.

His particular interests are charities related to children, cancer and education. He has also lent his wisdom to different charitable organizations. These include Changing Young Lives Foundation, the Community Business Leadership Team, the Society for the Promotion of Hospice Care, the Salvation Army and Outward Bound. He currently chairs the Annual "Hike for Hospice" Charity event.

Mr Thompson was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in 2003.
