Mr Gordon Orr`s Biodata
Mr Gordon Orr is the Chairman of McKinsey Asia, responsible for McKinsey`s client service in the region. McKinsey & Company is a renowned global management consulting firm providing comprehensive client services to the world`s leading businesses, governments and institutions. Established for over eighty-five years, the firm has grown into a global partnership serving two-thirds of the Fortune 1000.
Mr Gordon Orr has been based in China since 1993 and has extensive reach and experience in China. He was instrumental in the establishment of McKinsey`s offices in Shanghai and Beijing in 1993 and 1995 respectively and led McKinsey`s Greater China practice for many years. From 1999 to 2004, Mr Orr served as Managing Director of McKinsey`s Greater China offices and has been on McKinsey`s global board of directors since 2003, responsible for risk management globally.
Mr Orr works with leading Chinese, Indian and Japanese companies on large scale transformations, combining perspectives from strategy, operations, leadership and technology and helping to transform institutions from local and regional players into global leaders.
Mr Orr is the author of several articles on topics such as corporate governance and the globalization of Asian companies, and is the founder of the Chinese-language edition of The McKinsey Quarterly, the online business journal of McKinsey & Company offering new ways of thinking about management in the private, public and nonprofit sectors. He is the co-founder of the McKinsey Council of China Business Economists (MCCBE), a group comprised of leading economists dedicated to advancing the debate on critical economic issues in China.
Mr Orr graduated in electrical engineering from Oxford University and as a Baker Scholar from Harvard Business School.
