McDonald`s Restaurants (Hong Kong) Limited
Wins the Top Prize of the 2012 HKMA Quality Award

Results of the annual HKMA Quality Award, one of the most prestigious business awards in Hong Kong, were proudly announced by Mr James Thompson GBS, Chairman of 2012 HKMA Quality Award Organizing Committee; and Council Member of the Hong Kong Management Association, during the press conference of the Award held on Monday, 16 July 2012 at the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong.

McDonald`s Restaurants (Hong Kong) Limited was awarded the Gold Award in recognition of its strong commitment and distinguished achievement in total quality management. Chun Wo Development Holdings Limited and The Link Management Limited were awarded the Bronze Awards. The recipient of Certificate of Merit went to city`super Group while the Special Award for SMEs went to Chief Holdings (HK) Limited.

During the press conference, Mr Thompson stated that "we are delighted with the number and variety of companies entering for the Award. This seems to us a significant step in the quality journey within Hong Kong. " Professor Matthew Yuen, Chairman of the Board of Examiners, further added that the Examiners were very pleased to note that, "all the five finalists have achieved high standard and the competition amongst them has been very keen."

Following are some brief but specific comments on each winner:

GOLD AWARD WINNER:

McDonald`s Restaurants (Hong Kong) Limited
Established in 1975, McDonald`s is the world`s largest quick service restaurant organization, with more than 30,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries worldwide. Currently, there are over 200 McDonald`s restaurants with more than 10,000 staff in Hong Kong.

McDonald`s demonstrates excellence in strategy planning, with well-executed strategy development and implementation. The strategic planning process is structured and rigorous and involves the entire workforce, driven by the leadership team. The company shows strong commitment to governance and corporate social responsibility. It successfully engages its customers and builds good relationships with a range of localized and customized initiatives. McDonald`s has also successfully developed an excellent workforce environment. It strategically offers certain benefits to its staff beyond market benchmarks. Its strong leadership, planning, customer focus, workforce focus, knowledge management and operations focus all contribute to a well-managed organization that delivers its promise on food quality, customer service, cleanliness and value.

BRONZE AWARD WINNERS:

Chun Wo Development Holdings Limited
Chun Wo Development Holdings Limited begin its business in 1968 as a sole proprietorship undertook small-scale construction works in Hong Kong and successfully evolved into a local base development group which undertakes both large-scale construction projects and the property development, security and property management services.

A clear vision as an acclaimed contractor and developer in Asia with dynamic and sustainable growth is established. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) have been set to track the performance outcomes and the KPI system links to bonus incentive schemes and performance appraisals, ensuring continuous improvement and work group deployment. Benefit policies have been reviewed regularly and changed to echo with the philosophy of investing in staff. ISO framework for work process design and requirements is also in place. The organization performed well above industrial average, particularly in construction segment. A comparatively low accident rate was recorded in the construction industry.

The Link Management Limited
The Link Management Limited is the manager of The Link Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT), which is the first REIT in Hong Kong. The Link REIT`s portfolio consists of 181 properties with an internal floor area of approximately 11 million square feet of retails space and around 80,000 car pack spaces.

The Link adopts a systematic strategic planning process to develop its 3-year business plan and longer term strategies on asset management, acquisition and enhancement with inputs from its senior management and the Board. Systematic customer engagement measures are in place for customer segmentation, identification of specific needs and collection of feedback. Continuous efforts are made to create a sustainable REIT via Asset Enhancement Initiatives (AEIs) and workforce engagement. With the development of a comprehensive schedule for AEIs since its listing in 2005, The Link has transformed its properties and created a more enjoyable business and shopping environment for its customers and tenants.

CERTIFICATE OF MERIT

city`super Group
city`super Group was established in 1996 with more than 1,500 employees, a gourmet Food Market; supplies imported fresh fruit and vegetables, seafood, meat, poultry and so forth. The Group aims at providing high quality and internationally sourced merchandize.

Senior leaders establish two-way communication with workforce by multiple channels, promoting the core value for full compliance with legal and government regulations and commitment in societal responsibility. Clear long term strategic development is set up to expand business outside Hong Kong with objectives to succeed in bringing multiple brands to multiple markets within a stated time frame. Its culture is to keep employees happy. Its workforce management system supports succession planning, management trainee programme, staff mobility and internal posting. Positive trend for turnover and profit recorded in past years indicate its continuous growth of financial performance.

SPECIAL AWARD FOR SMES:

Chief Holdings (HK) Limited
Chief Holdings (HK) Limited is a local financial service provider. It provides trading services for Hong Kong and United States stocks and local and global futures and options products. The services are delivered through channels such as telephone hotline, on-line system and a network of 20 branches distributed over the territory. Its key customers are local-based retail clients.

The Company has clearly identified its market position and established a systematic strategic planning and deployment process for short and medium term planning to achieve its long term goal. It collects customer`s opinions, complaints and suggestions through various channels. Upon receipt of customer feedback, it reviews its operations and rolls out improvement measures. Leaders are required under the Performance Management System to set their annual business goals and to ensure effective cascading of the goals to the line. The Company energizes its staff and promotes teamwork through the "Company is my home family" concept. Its key work systems and work processes are identified to achieve the goal of providing customers with fast, accurate and reliable investment service.

2012 HKMA QUALITY AWARD

First launched in 1991 by The Hong Kong Management Association, the annual HKMA Quality Award aims to reward commitment in an age of change, and to bring public recognition to those organizations that have achieved outstanding standards of quality and made a lasting commitment to the process of quality management. Special Award for SMEs was introduced in 2006 to encourage their pursuit of Total Quality Management.
