HKMA 50th Anniversary & AAMO Gala Dinner

Dr The Hon Donald Tsang, GBM, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region addressed to over 600 members and guests of the Hong Kong Management Association at its 50th Anniversary and AAMO Gala Dinner on Monday, 13 September 2010.

Fellow and Charter memberships
20 new Fellows and Charter Members were awarded this year. Fellows are individuals who have distinguished themselves in the management field either by example or by contributing towards the general body of theory, philosophy and management practice. The eight new Fellows this year are:

Management Development Credit Unit (MDCU) Award
To recognize the achievement of companies in staff training and human resources development, three companies were awarded the Management Development Credit Unit (MDCU) Award, including Langham Place Hotel (Mongkok), Environmental Protection Department, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and City Telecom (Hong Kong) Ltd. Langham Place Hotel (Mongkok) received an award for having achieved the most significant growth in the number of training hours and staff members enrolled. Environmental Protection Department, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is awarded for the MDCU largest sponsor of staff members on the Associations training programmes. The other award went to City Telecom (Hong Kong) Ltd, which sponsored the greatest number of training hours in the Associations training programmes.

Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) Graduation Ceremony
The Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) Graduation Ceremony was also held at the dinner. This year, more than 400 students successfully completed and graduated from the programme. Established by the Hong Kong Management Association in 1975 and jointly organized with Lingnan University since 1998, the DMS programme aims to meet the needs of in-service managers and executives who seek a formal education in modern business management. Over 14,000 students have been graduated from the programme. The Diploma is widely recognized by overseas universities and graduates are also granted membership or exemptions by a number of prominent professional institutes.
