During the 48th Annual General Meeting of The Hong Kong Management Association held on Monday, 13 July 2009 at its Headquarters, Dr The Hon David K P Li GBM GBS JP, Chairman of the Association, was pleased to report that the Association offered more than 2,400 courses last year with a total enrolment of more than 52,000.
The upheaval in financial markets, followed by the sharp fall in trade, has led many of the Association`s corporate members to review their basic strategies and business priorities. "Many in-service managers and job-seekers have been motivated to upgrade their knowledge and skills, in order to better respond to fast changing market conditions. The needs of our members and our users place a great responsibility upon our Association. They are looking to us for solutions - solutions that match their needs and aspirations. " said Dr Li.
The Association is very encouraged by Government`s strong commitment to develop Hong Kong as an education hub and recommendation of the Task Force on Economic Challenges that Government should support the further development of the post-secondary education sector. "We will keep up our efforts to encourage Government to include development of management training as a priority. Raising the standard of management in Hong Kong is the primary goal of our Association" added Dr Li

Dr Ian Fok SBS JP, Managing Director, Yau Wing Co Ltd was elected Deputy Chairman. Dr Dennis Sun BBS JP, Chairman and Managing Director, Fuji Photo Products Co Ltd and The Hon Henry Fan SBS JP, Managing Director, CITIC Pacific Ltd were re-elected Deputy Chairmen.
