Chief Executive of Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Dr Joseph Yam GBS JP Speaks at the HKMA 47th Annual Fellowship Dinner

The Chief Executive for Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Dr Joseph C K Yam GBS JP, delivered a speech to over 600 members and guests of the Hong Kong Management Association at its 47th Annual Fellowship Dinner on Tuesday, 27 November 2007.

Fellow and Charter membership
During the occasion, 18 new Fellows and Charter Members were presented. Fellows are individuals who have distinguished themselves in the management field either by example or by contributing towards the general body of theory, philosophy and management practice. The seven new Fellows this year are:

  • Dr The Hon Lee Shau Kee GBM, Chairman and Managing Director, Henderson Land Development Company Limited
  • Dr The Hon Charles Lee Yeh-kwong GBM GBS JP, Member, Executive Council, Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
  • Mr James Blake OBE JP, Chief Executive Officer, Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation
  • The Hon Mr Justice WOO Kwok-hing GBS CBE Court of Appeal
  • Mr C H Fan, Managing Director , Synergis Management Services Limited
  • Dr David Chan Pun, Chairman and Managing Director, Tai Cheung Holdings Limited
  • The Hon Rafael Hui Si-yan GBM GBS JP, Member, Executive Council, Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

    Management Development Credit Unit (MDCU) Award
    To recognize the achievement of companies in staff training and human resources development, three companies were awarded the Management Development Credit Unit (MDCU) Award, including Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, The Hong Kong Jockey Club and China Travel Services (Holdings) Hong Kong Ltd. Office of the Government Chief Information Officer is awarded for the MDCU Most Significant Growth Award, The Hong Kong Jockey Club is awarded for the MDCU Largest Sponsor of Staff Members Award and China Travel Services (Holdings) Hong Kong Ltd is awarded for the MDCU Largest Sponsor of Training Hours Award.

    Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) Graduation Ceremony
    The Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) Graduation Ceremony was also held at the dinner. This year, more than 430 students successfully completed and graduated from the programme. Established by the Hong Kong Management Association in 1975 and jointly organized with Lingnan University since 1998, the DMS programme aims to meet the needs of in-service managers and executives who seek a formal education in modern business management. Over 13,000 students have been graduated from the programme. The Diploma is widely recognized by overseas universities and graduates are also granted membership or exemptions by a number of prominent professional institutes.
