During the 46th Annual General Meeting of The Hong Kong Management Association held on Tuesday, 10 July 2007 (today) at its Headquarters, Dr The Hon David K P Li GBM GBS JP, Chairman of the Association, was pleased to report that the Association ran a total of 2,180 courses last year with a total enrolment of over 48,000 participants.
Dr Li highlighted that the Association introduced several important initiatives last year, demonstrating its clear intention to play an even stronger and more vital role in the promotion of life-long learning and excellence in management. One of the most significant initiatives, is the establishment of the Professional Manager scheme, which encourages highly-talented managers to achieve their true potential by career development programmes. "As the labour market tightens, our members are looking to us to step up our training efforts. Our students and the general public are looking to us to help them take advantage of improving job opportunities, and make the leap to a more rewarding and satisfying career." said Dr Li.
While Hong Kong is moving forward to cement its role as the international financial centre for the Asian region, and a services hub within China, Dr Li announced that Hong Kong and the Association is entering a golden age, "The economy is strong. The people are confident. Our Association continues to provide vital support to enable the Hong Kong economy to move up the value chain and the prosper."
Dr Li mentioned that one of the strengths of the Association "is our ability to constantly renew our course offerings and our services. This ability comes from our hard-fought effort to remain relevant and vital."
At the Annual General Meeting, nine Council members were elected or re-elected. They are:

While at the Council Meeting held immediately after the Annual General Meeting, Dr The Hon David K P Li GBM GBS JP, Chairman and Chief Executive, The Bank of East Asia Ltd was re-elected Chairman. Dr Dennis Sun BBS JP, Chairman and Managing Director, Fuji Photo Products Co Ltd and The Hon Henry Fan SBS JP, Managing Director, CITIC Pacific Ltd were re-elected Deputy Chairmen of the Association. New co-opted Council Members included Dr Michael T H Lee, Director of Lee Hysan Estate Company, Limited.
