Wins the Top Prize of the 2007 HKMA Quality Award

The results of the annual HKMA Quality Award, one of the most prestigious business awards in Hong Kong, were proudly announced by Dr John C C Chan GBS JP, Chairman of the Awards Organizing Committee, during the press conference of the Award held on Tuesday, 26 June 2007 at the InterContinental Hong Kong.

Langham Place Hotel, Mongkok, Hong Kong is awarded the Gold Award in recognition of its great commitment to Total Quality Management. The Silver Award goes to CITIC Ka Wah Bank Limited. China State Construction International Holdings Limited and The Hong Kong Society For the Aged are awarded the Bronze Awards, while Hong Thai Travel Services Limited and K Wah Construction Materials are awarded the Certificates of Merit. The Special Award for SMEs goes to Richform Holdings Limited.

First launched in 1991 by The Hong Kong Management Association, the annual HKMA Quality Award aims to reward commitment in an age of change, and to bring public recognition to those organizations that have achieved outstanding standards of quality and made a lasting commitment to the process of quality management. The Award has especially developed a Special Award for SMEs last year to encourage their pursuit of Total Quality Management.

This year, the applicants coming from a broad spectrum of industries prove the reach and influence of the Award among the local business community. Commenting on the winners, the Panel of Judges and the Board of Examiners are deeply impressed with the efforts made by the winners in understanding the needs of their customers. Following are some brief but specific comments on each winner.

GOLD AWARD WINNER:

Langham Place Hotel, Mongkok, Hong Kong
There is no doubt that Langham Place Hotel really achieved "Change the face of Mongkok forever" by running the Hotel a five-star champion of Mongkok - an innovative and challenging vision and mission championed by the senior leaders and management team. The effective and innovative deployment of Total Quality Management instills the best practices that embrace quality in all aspects of the Hotel’s operation, and drives its commitment to total customer satisfaction. Despite its short history of operation, the Hotel has successfully created the differentiated advantage in the highly competitive hotel market in Hong Kong and has attained outstanding standard of performance.

SILVER AWARD WINNER:

CITIC Ka Wah Bank Limited
To maintain its competitive position in the banking industry, CITIC Ka Wah Bank has adopted the Total Quality Management model to excel in its operations. CITIC Ka Wah Bank has shown its determination and significant achievements in the criteria since being presented the Certificate of Merit of the HKMA Quality Award 3 years ago. Furthermore, the Bank has successfully implemented customer centric operations which has been well integrated into its business routines.

BRONZE AWARD WINNERS:

China State Construction International Holdings Ltd.
With a vision to "Serving the Community, Promoting China and Benefiting the People", top management of China State Construction International Holdings Limited has been actively involved in promoting its core values through two-way communication. Through a clear governance structure and a systematic market analysis, the company has successfully strengthened its competitiveness in the construction market in Hong Kong and has developed well to expand its business in Macau, India and Dubai.

The Hong Kong Society For the Aged
As one of the non-profit making elderly service providers, The Hong Kong Society For The Aged (SAGE) is committed to enhancing the well-being of the aged by providing tailor-made services. Since 2003, the Society has conducted the Malcom Baldrige Assessment in its journey to quality excellence. This transformation has led to impressive results. Besides meeting all service performance targets of Funding and Service Agreement and its service quality standards, it also serves the highest number of users amongst non-government organization (NGO) elderly service providers.
