Chief Secretary for Administration, HKSAR, The Hon Rafael Hui GBS JP, delivered a speech to over 600 members and guests of the Hong Kong Management Association at its 46th Annual Fellowship Dinner on Wednesday, 29 November 2006.
At the occasion, The Hon Rafael Hui GBS JP commented that “The Association has a sterling history of promoting management excellence and continuing education in Hong Kong. Over the years, the HKMA has provided training to tens of thousands of working executives, contributing significantly to enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of management in Hong Kong.” (Please click here for full text.)
Fellow and Charter membership
During the occasion, 17 new Fellows and Charter Members were presented. Fellows are individuals who have distinguished themselves in the management field either by example or by contributing towards the general body of theory, philosophy and management practice. The seven new Fellows this year are:

Management Development Credit Unit (MDCU) Award
To recognize the achievement of companies in staff training and human resources development, two companies were awarded the Management Development Credit Unit (MDCU) Award, including China Travel Service (Holdings) Limited and Manulife (International) Limited. China Travel Service (Holdings) Limited is awarded for sponsoring the largest number of training hours and staff members on the management training programmes organized by the Association while Manulife (International) Limited is awarded for the most significant growth in both the number of training hours and staff members sponsored on the management training programmes offered by the Association.
Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) Graduation Ceremony
The Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) Graduation Ceremony was also held at the dinner. This year, more than 450 students successfully completed and graduated from the programme. Established by the Hong Kong Management Association in 1975 and jointly organized with Lingnan University since 1998, the DMS programme aims to meet the needs of in-service managers and executives who seek a formal education in modern business management. Over 13,000 students have been graduated from the programme. The Diploma is widely recognized by overseas universities as equivalent to a formal degree. Graduates are also granted membership or exemptions by a number of prominent professional institutes.
