Organized by the Theme Year Working Party
of The Hong Kong Management Association, a luncheon talk by Mr Po Chung
SBS OBE JP, Chairman Emeritus, DHL Express (Hong Kong) Limited on "The
Hong Kong Plug, Use It or Lose It" was held successfully yesterday
(Wednesday, 16 August 2006) in support of the Association`s theme for
2006, "Hong Kong: the World City of Asia".
During the luncheon, Mr Chung delivered a very inspiring speech and introduced
a new idea called, "Hong Kong Plug", which is an amalgamation
of Eastern values found in Confucian, Buddhism and Taoism, and Western
values and institutions stemming from Hebrew/Christian, Greco-Roman and
Anglo/American civilization. He believed that all the people of Hong Kong
have such a unique set of personal operating values which incorporate
the advantages of both the Eastern and Western worlds. And he highlighted
at the end of his speech, "If the world trusts us and knows your
values, you can do more business with the world."
Mr Po Chung has excelled in a variety of domains. He began his career
with degree in Wildlife Management. In the business domain, he is globally
recognized as the co-founder of DHL Asia Pacific. In the area of community
service, he served as a member of TDC, Tourist Board, Ocean Park, and
the Hong Kong Management Association just to mention a few. In the philanthropic
domain, he is well known for creating the Creative Initiative Foundation,
which provides strategic review and planning workshops for NGOs. In the
art world, he is appreciated for his leadership at the Hong Kong Art Centre
and for his distinctive Chinese landscape paintings, for which he recently

a teaching framework that is the keystone curriculum of the Centre for
