During the 45th Annual General Meeting
of The Hong Kong Management Association held on Tuesday, 18 July 2006
at its Headquarter, Dr The Hon David K P Li GBS JP, Chairman of the Association, was pleased to report that the Association
ran a total of 2,311 courses last year and the enrolment surged by more
than 2,000 places to over 51,200 participants.
Dr Li highlighted that the Association introduced several important initiatives
last year, demonstrating its clear intention to play an even stronger
and more vital role in the promotion of life-long learning and excellence
in management. One of the most significant initiatives, is the establishment
of the HKMA College of Further Education, which caters to recent secondary
school graduates who intend to continue in full-time studies. “During
2005, the College of Further Education launched a Bachelor of Commerce
degree in conjunction with Australia’s Curtin University of Technology.
The introduction of this full-time degree course marks our coming age
as a full-service education provider.” said Dr Li.
In addition, the Association made good progress in aligning several of
its courses with the professional requirements of Mainland China. The
introduction of a Certificate programme leading to a National Professional
Trainer qualification under the Mainland`s vocational training regime
was a good example.
Dr Li further reported that "our Award programmes have been revitalized
this past year, to give greater recognition to outstanding achievement
by individuals, and by small and medium enterprises… Through these new
awards, we encourage more people and more companies to aim for excellence."
Dr Li mentioned that "as job opportunities improve, they (our students
and the public) want us to help them make the leap to a more rewarding
and satisfying career… Our Association’s decision last year to launch
PRIMEJobs, a new on-line recruitment portal, was very timely… It is an
example of the value-added service that our Association must undertake
in order to better serve our members and the public at large."
