The HKMA/TVB Awards for Marketing Excellence 2006, the most authoritative and prestigious marketing awards in Hong Kong is soon to take place. Organized by The Hong Kong Management Association since 1985, the Awards aim to give recognition to outstanding marketers in Hong Kong and their campaigns as a means to upgrade the standards of marketing profession. The Awards have been sponsored by Television Broadcasts Ltd since 1989.
There are two categories for the Awards. They are "Campaign Awards" and "Individual Awards".
Campaign Awards
Companies whose marketing campaigns demonstrate excellence in certain areas will be conferred with one or more of these awards:
- Gold, Silver, Bronze Prizes
- Certificate of Excellence (3)
- Citation for Outstanding TV Campaign
- Citation for Innovation
- Citation for Excellence in Mainland Marketing
- Citation for Outstanding Small Budget Campaign
- Best Presentation Award (The winner will be decided by the number of votes received from participants during the Award Seminar to be held on Friday, 8 September 2006.)

An entry is eligible if it is a campaign for a product, a service, or a public service issue and launched after October 2004 with demonstrable results. If a company or organization had participated in the past, the campaign this year should be substantially different from previous submissions. Besides, the marketing campaign should be developed for either the Hong Kong market or the Mainland China market, although supporting materials need not have been produced locally. If the campaign is developed for the Mainland China market, it should be run by a Hong Kong company or organization.
Previous winners were all outstanding marketing campaigns which met the stringent judging criteria of the Award. They include rationale behind the marketing campaign; strategic intent encompassing product/service development and positioning, pricing, product distribution or service delivery system to target-users, communication/promotion to target audience, overall integration of campaign elements; originality of the campaign; results as measured against objectives; other meritorious elements of the marketing programme such as creativity, tracking methods, customer orientation, etc. (See attached list of previous winners of Campaign Awards.)

$3,600 (HKMA/CIM Member) / $3,900 (Non-Member)
(The participation fee covers TWO free seats at both the Award Seminar and the Award Presentation Dinner.)

Individual Awards
The Individual Awards recognize the outstanding achievement of marketers who have made significant contribution to the marketing development of their companies or clients as well as the business community. The awards include:
- CIM Marketer of the Year Award (Sponsored by Chartered Institute of Marketing, Hong Kong, the recipient will be selected from amongst the winners of the Distinguished Marketer Awards.)
- Distinguished Marketer Awards
- Outstanding Young Marketing Professional Awards

a. Distinguished Marketer Awards and Marketer of the Year Award
This category is open for executives who have at least 10 years` experience; and occupied a senior position; and played a leading marketing role in the company or played a leading role in the marketing development and marketing execution of client companies.
To become winners of these categories, candidates should demonstrate creativity / innovativeness, leadership and executional excellence, strategic think, results and lesson learned from the single most successful marketing campaign launched after October 2002 which the he / she has played a key role. Besides, the candidate is required to cite up to 5 marketing campaigns over the last 10 years that he / she feels represent excellence in marketing to demonstrate the other marketing achievements; achievements in the leadership of the marketing function in the organization; contributions to the Strategic Business Direction of the Organization; Personal Achievements as well as general contributions to the marketing development of the business community.
The process of selection is by company nomination with a written submission for all candidates and followed by an interview by a Board of Examiners for the short-listed candidates only.
b. Outstanding Young Marketing Professional Awards
This category is open for executives who have at least 5 years` experience in the profession.
To become winners of these categories, candidates should demonstrate creativity / innovativeness, executional excellence, results and lesson learned from the single most successful marketing campaign launched after October 2002 which the he / she has played a key role. Besides, the candidate is required to cite up to 3 marketing campaigns over the last 5 years that he / she feels represent excellence in marketing to demonstrate the other marketing achievements; Personal Achievements; and a Self-Improvement Plan. Candidate is also required to provide marketing solutions in not more that 500 words to a case study given by the Secretariat.
The process of selection of the Individual Awards is by company nomination with a written submission of not more than four pages together with a one-page summary of personal information in English or Chinese to be reviewed by the Board of Examiners. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a Final Judging by the Panel of Judges who will determine winners of the CIM Marketer of the Year, Distinguished Marketer Awards and Outstanding Young Marketing Professional Awards. Participation fee of Distinguished Marketer Awards and Outstanding Young Marketing Professional Awards:
$1,900 (HKMA Member) / $2,200 (Non-Member)

Award Seminar
The Association will also organize an experience-sharing seminar on Monday, 12 September 2005 to provide companies a unique opportunity to benchmark the best marketing practices in Hong Kong. During the Award Seminar, the six finalists will share the rationale, marketing strategies, and results of their successful marketing campaigns. Winner of the Best Presentation Award will be decided by the number of votes received from participants during the Award Seminar. Details will be as follows:
