Awards and Campaign Awards of the HKMA/TVB Awards for Marketing Excellence
2005 were announced at the Award Presentation Luncheon this afternoon
(Thursday, 18 October 2005). The results were as follows:

Dr The Hon David K P Li GBS JP, Chairman of the Association; Dr Norman
Leung GBS JP, Executive Deputy Chairman, Television Broadcasts Limited;
Mr Shih Wing Ching JP, Chairman, Centaline Group; and Mr Linus Cheung,
President, The Chartered Institute of Marketing, Hong Kong, presented
the trophies and certificates at the Award Presentation Luncheon. Mr Shih
Wing Ching also delivered a keynote address on "New Perspective of the
Hong Kong Media Market" during the occasion.
Organized by the Association since 1985 and sponsored by Television Broadcasts
Ltd since 1989, the Awards bestow honour and public recognition on marketers
and organizations that have, through outstanding marketing programmes,
broken barriers and raised the standards of the marketing profession in
Hong Kong. This year, the awards have included a new individual category
to give recognition for individual marketers who have made significant
contribution to the marketing development of their companies as well as
the whole community. The Campaign Award has also been enhanced by adding
the "Citation for Small Budget Campaign" and "Best Presentation Award".
Comments from the Panel of Judges on the Campaign Awardees:
"Revolution of Pizza Hut`s Business Concept" was commended as a bold and
all-rounded campaign which had successfully repositioned the company from
a fast food chain to an "enhanced causal dining" restaurant
through a breakthrough business concept and correct diagnosis of market
realities. The proven success of Pizza Hut Hong Kong had provided an important
strategic input for the development of its brand worldwide.
"Repositioning of e-zone" was commended as a well-executed and highly
cost-effective campaign which had successfully re-positioned e-zone from
a niche computer magazine into a mass-market digital magazine, based on
an insightful analysis of the market and the identification of a unique
market segment for business re-focus and development. The launch of the
new magazine with a competitively low price and a souvenir gift blitz
was a bold move which successfully attracted impulse purchases.
"It`s the little things we remember" was commended as a classic example
of how in-depth consumer research and a user-focused mindset would lead
to exceptional business result. The programme was especially commended
for its excellent TV campaigns which touched viewer`s hearts with familiar
and memorable everyday situations that they could definitely relate to.
It greatly strengthened Cathay Pacific`s Image as a caring company with
service excellence.
"Amoy Premium Soy Sauce" was a well-planned marketing campaign backed
by meticulous market research which had successfully captured the premium
soy sauce market through detailed product development. Having clearly
positioned its product as an "affordable luxury", Amoy was able to implement
an effective marketing campaign which involved appropriate pricing, innovative
packaging, efficient distribution among chained stores, unprecedented
promotion sales at high-end chained restaurants and TV commercials associating
the premium soy sauce with classic masterpieces.
"Live 3" was commended as a highly integrated marketing programme which
had changed the usage habit of its customers with impressive results and
long term brand building impact. The programme was highly integrated and
comprehensive, covering a wide range of customer segments. Pricing and
distribution strategies were well thought out and executed. The multi-channel
and high impact promotion programmes successfully captured and elaborated
on the benefits of video-calling facility and helped make 3G technology
more relevant and accessible to customers.
"The Arch Imagination rules the world" was commended as a well-planned
and well thought out campaign which had achieved remarkable results through
creative market positioning and excellent execution. The positioning of
the development as an extremely prestigious property by highlighting the
unique architectural design of the ARCH, the stunning views of Victoria
Harbour and the strategically-elevated Sky Club, was highly successful
and made other competitors hard to follow or catch up. The indisputable
success of the marketing campaign has reinforced SHK`s leading position
as a provider of quality homes in Hong Kong.
