The results of the annual HKMA Quality Award, one of
the most prestigious business awards in Hong Kong, were proudly announced
by Mr John C C Chan GBS JP, Chairman of the Awards Organizing Committee,
during the press conference of the Award held on Wednesday, 13 July 2005
at the InterContinental Hong Kong Hotel.
Manfield Coatings Co Ltd is awarded the Gold Award in recognition of
its great commitment to Total Quality Management. The Judiciary Administration
and SGS Hong Kong Ltd are awarded the Silver Awards while ACE Style Intimate
Apparel Limited, Chun Wo Holdings Ltd, Exel Hong Kong Limited, Kuehne+Nagel
(Asia Pacific) Management Ltd and Savills Property Management Limited
are awarded the Bronze Awards. The Special Awards for SMEs went to Objective
Solutions Ltd and Prince of Peace (HK) Limited.
First launched in 1991 by The Hong Kong Management Association, the annual
HKMA Quality Award aims to reward commitment in an age of change, and
to bring public recognition to those organizations that have achieved
outstanding standards of quality and made a lasting commitment to the
process of quality management.
This year, over a hundred of companies have shown keen interest in the
Award. The applicants, coming from a broad spectrum of industries such
as public utilities, banking, property management, business services,
manufacturing, logistics, construction and engineering, prove the reach
and influence of the Award among the local business community.
Commenting on the winners, the Panel of Judges and the Board of Examiners
are deeply
impressed with the heavy emphasis the management has put in direct communication
with employees through the use of different tools. Following are some
brief but specific comments on each winner.
GOLD AWARD WINNER - Manfield Coatings Company Ltd
Manfield Coatings Company Ltd has shown significant achievements in all
the seven criteria. The company has been driven by the outstanding leadership
of its senior management to become the industry’s role model in crafting
a competent and conscientious workforce to exceed customers’ requirements
by offering “prompt and reliable” tailor-made services. Apart from the
brilliant business results, the company has also achieved great results
in corporate governance, environmental protection, product safety and
community support.

The Judiciary Administration
The Judiciary Administration has adopted an organizational development
approach which focuses on culture, structure, people and systems, and
operates as a competitive and sustainable business entity. Committees
and a structured process are established for actively managing external
and internal customer relationships and gauging their satisfaction levels.
A Quality Division is appointed to lead the integration of case management
systems, operating information systems and a section to ensure information
integrity, accuracy and timeliness.
SGS Hong Kong Limited
SGS Hong Kong Limited has a very systematic and market-focused strategy
development process with Technology Advancement, Integration, People Excellence,
and Service Leadership as the backbone. The company has clearly identified
its market segmentation and customer grouping, demonstrating in-depth
market knowledge. An integrated employee Performance Management System
has also been implemented to facilitate personal growth and high performance.

ACE Style Intimate Apparel Limited
ACE Style Intimate Apparel Limited adopts advanced manufacturing technologies

Chun Wo Holdings Ltd
For Chun Wo Holdings Ltd, the Examiners are impressed with its strong
organization leadership and customer-oriented culture. The company clearly
spells out its short-term and long-term leadership direction and has developed
a well-structured company organization and project team system for its
operation. Highly effective systems and processes are in place to ensure
close liaison with customers and to build strong customer relationship
at a high level.
Exel Hong Kong Limited
As a well-established logistics solution provider, Exel Hong Kong Limited
