The Award for Excellence in Training was introduced by The Hong Kong Management Association in 1990 with the aim of giving public recognition to trainers and companies for the contribution that training can make to corporate results.

The judging process is simple but comprehensive. All the participating companies are required to give a simple verbal presentation of their training content to the Board of Examiners at a Shortlisting Interview. Shortlisted entries will be invited to submit a five-page summary of their training programmes. The best six entries will be selected for the final presentation seminar entitled "Benchmark Your Training Practices with Some of the Excellent Companies". The six finalists will deliver a presentation before the Panel of Adjudicators who will then decide the winners of the Award.
