Business Community Shows Support for the HKMA Award for Excellence
in Training 2004

The Hong Kong Management Association is proud to announce that a record of 44 entries has been received for the Award for Excellence in Training 2004. Organized by the Human Resources Development Management Committee of the Association since 1990, this unique award gives public recognition of achievements in training and development to companies and human resource professionals in Hong Kong. After the Shortlisting Interview (held on 18 February), a total of 19 training programmes were shortlisted for the next stage of the competition. They were invited to submit a 5-page summary of their training progammes.

Mr Graham Higgins, Chairman of the Human Resources Development Management Committee of The Hong Kong Management Association, noted with pleasure the increase in the number of entries. He said, "It demonstrated that a wider community is recognizing the award and the contribution of training and development".

The six finalists will share with the business community details of their training programme objectives, contents, implementation and outcomes at an open seminar, "Benchmark Your Training Practices with Some of the Excellent Companies". The seminar is combined with the final round of the competition for the Award for Excellence in Training and is the only real case experience-sharing seminar ever held in Hong Kong. Details of the Seminar are as follows:

At the seminar, Mr Peter Lau, Chairman & Chief Executive of Giordano International Limited will deliver a speech related to training. The Gold, Silver, Bronze Prizes and Certificates of Merit recipients will be chosen by the Panel of Adjudicators. A recipient of the Best Presentation Award will be selected by all the participants of the seminar. The winner of the Recruit Most Innovative Award will be chosen from
amongst the entries by the Board of Examiners. Results of the Award will be announced
at the luncheon following the seminar.
