The Hon Donald Tsang GBM JP Presents Fellow and Charter Membership to 22 Outstanding Individuals and Companies at the HKMA Annual Fellowship Dinner

The Hon Donald Tsang GBM JP, Chief Secretary for Administration, The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region delivered a speech on Good Corporate Governance: Good Business to over 600 members and guests of The Hong Kong Management Association at its Annual Fellowship Dinner on Tuesday, 2 December 2003.

During the occasion, fellowships and charter memberships were presented. Fellows are individuals who have distinguished themselves in the management field either by example or by contributing towards the general body of theory, philosophy and management practice. Charter members are corporate bodies or companies which are admitted by invitation only.

New Fellows are Professor John Hewson, Dean, Macquarie Graduate School of Management; Mr Chong Shing Hum, Director General Manager, Wah Gar (Holdings) Co Ltd; Mr James Thompson, Chairman & Chief Executive, Crown Worldwide Group; Mr Victor Lo Chung Wing GBS OBE JP, Chairman and Chief Executive, Gold Peak Industries (Holdings) Ltd; Mr Norman Leung Nai Pang GBS JP, Executive Deputy Chairman, Television Broadcasts Ltd; Mr C C Tung, Chairman and CEO, Orient Overseas (International) Ltd and Dr Michael Wu Po Ko, Chairman & Executive Director, Wing Lung Bank Ltd.

New Charter members include: 3M Hong Kong Ltd, Amway Asia Pacific Ltd, Amoy Food Ltd, China Everbright International Ltd, Crown Worldwide Group, Eurasia International (China) Ltd Partnership, Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation, Hysan Development Co Ltd, Legend Group Ltd, Manfield Coatings Co Ltd, Recruit Holdings Ltd, Urban Group, Wing Hang Bank Ltd, Wing Lung Bank Ltd and Yantzekiang Garment Manufacturing Co Ltd.

This year, Management Development Credit Unit Award - winning organization is Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It is awarded for sponsoring the largest number of training hours and staff members on the management training programmes organized by the Association. In addition, it is also awarded for the most significant growth in both the number of training hours and staff members sponsored on the management training programmes offered by the Association.

In addition, the Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) Graduation Ceremony was also held. This year, a total of 588 students successfully completed and graduated from the programme. Established in 1975 and jointly organized with Lingnan University since 1998, the DMS aims to meet the needs of in-service managers and executives who seek a formal education in modern business management. The Diploma is widely recognized by overseas universities as equivalent to a formal degree. Graduates are also granted membership or exemptions by a number of prominent professional institutes.
