Professor Tsui Lap Chee Presents Fellow and Charter Membership to 23 Outstanding Individuals and Companies

Professor Tsui Lap Chee, Vice-Chancellor, The University of Hong Kong delivered a speech on "Societal Impacts of the Human Genome Project to over 600 members and guests of The Hong Kong Management Association at its Annual Fellowship Dinner on Tuesday, 10 December 2002.

During the occasion, fellowships and charter memberships were presented. Fellows are individuals who have distinguished themselves in the management field either by example or by contributing towards the general body of theory, philosophy and management practice. Charter members are corporate bodies or companies which are admitted by invitation only.

New Fellows are Dr Michael Chan, Chairman, Caf de Coral Holdings Ltd;

Mr Paul Chow, Chief Executive, HSBC Asset Management (Hong Kong) Ltd; Mr Henry Fan, Managing Director, CITIC Pacific Ltd; Tan Sri Dr Khoo Kay Peng, Group Chairman, MUI Hong Kong Ltd; Mr Chye Kuok, Director, Kerry Holdings Ltd; and Dr Liu Jinbao, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive, Bank of China (Hong Kong) Ltd.

New Charter members include: Allen & Overy; Centaline Property Agency Ltd; Conrad Hotels; Eagle Star Insurance Group; Fuji Xerox (Hong Kong) Ltd; Gold Peak Industries (Holdings) Ltd; Hong Yip Holdings Ltd; Hsin Chong Real Estate Management Ltd; InterContinental Hong Kong; Linklaters; Louie Industrial Co Ltd; Peoples Telephone Co Ltd; Philip K H Wong, Kennedy Y H Wong & Co; Simmons & Simmons; Wah Gar (Holdings) Co Ltd; Yau Wing Co Ltd; and Zung Fu Co Ltd.

This year, Management Development Credit Unit Award - winning organizations are Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation and Bank of China (Hong Kong) Ltd. KCRC is awarded for sponsoring the largest number of training hours and staff members on the management training programmes organized by the Association. Bank of China (Hong Kong) Ltd is awarded for the most significant growth in both the number of training hours and staff members sponsored on the management training programmes offered by the Association.

In addition, the Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) Graduation Ceremony was also held. This year, a total of 492 students successfully completed and graduated from the programme. Established in 1975, the DMS aims to meet the needs of in-service managers and executives who seek a formal education in modern business management. The Diploma is widely recognized by overseas universities as equivalent to a formal degree. Graduates are also granted membership or exemptions by a number of prominent professional institutes.
