Six Teams Enter Hong Kong Final 22/6/2002
Three teams from CLP Power Hong Kong Ltd, a team from Vitasoy International Holdings Ltd, a team of City University students and an individual team emerged as winners in their respective group and will proceed to the Hongkong Final of the Hongkong Management Game to be held next Saturday (29 June 2002).
The Management Game is a computer simulation business exercise. Teams are asked to run a fictitious company and they have to decide on selling prices, marketing, financing, as well as other strategic decisions. The special feature of the Game, which makes it stand out amongst similar simulations, is that teams are competing against other teams instead of the computer. Those who have played the Game for years know well that when something happens in the market, they have to think what others will do and then plan their own strategy accordingly. “This is exactly what happens in a real business situation,” said Mr Russell Morris, the Danish game designer who will be making a special trip to Hong Kong for the Final. The champion team of the Hongkong Final will represent the Territory to compete in the Regional Final to be held in October in Singapore. They will be competing against winning teams from Australia, India, Macau, Malaysia and Singapore. The Hongkong Management Game is organized by The Hong Kong Management Association, and sponsored by Arthur Andersen & Co, Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd and the South China Morning Post.
