Hong Kong Housing Authority Wins the Top Prize of the HKMA Annual Training Award

Organized by The Hong Kong Management Association, the results of the Award for Excellence in Training 2002 were announced on 7 June 2002 during the luncheon following the Half-Day Seminar on "Benchmark Your Training Practices with Some of the Excellent Companies".

The results were as follows:

In addition, Mr Charles Hung, Maintenance Surveyor, Hong Kong Housing Authority, has been awarded the Best Presentation Award. The Award recipient was selected by all the participants of the seminar. The winner of the Panda-Recruit Most Innovative Award this year is "Security Dog Handler Intensive Training Programme " by Henderson Land Group - Property Management Division.

Presentation Ceremony of the Award will be held on Monday, 23 September 2002 at the Seventeenth Susan Yuen Memorial Lecture. Mr Peter Woo, GBS JP, Chairman, Hong Kong Trade Development Council will be the Guest of Honour and Speaker for the occasion. He will deliver a speech on "New Frontiers for Hong Kong Firms:
A World of Unique Opportunities".

The Award for Excellence in Training was introduced by The Hong Kong Management Association in 1990 with the aim of giving public recognition to trainers and companies for the contribution that training can make to corporate results.

The judging process is simple but comprehensive. All the participating companies are required to give a simple verbal presentation of their training content to the Board of Examiners (comprising members of the Human Resources Development Management Committee and consultants from the Association) at a Shortlisting Interview. Shortlisted entries will be invited to submit a five-page summary of their training programmes. The best six entries will be selected for the final presentation seminar entitled "Benchmark Your Training Practices with Some of the Excellent Companies". The six finalists will deliver a presentation before the Panel of Adjudicators who will then decide the winners of the Award.

The Award`s Panel of Adjudicators this year comprises: Mr Robert Chow, President and Chief Executive Officer, Panda-Recruit Group; Mr Roger Luk, Managing Director and Deputy Chief Executive, Hang Seng Bank Ltd; Dr Kim Mak, Executive Director, Corporate Development, The Hong Kong Jockey Club; and Mr William Ng, Director, Civil Service Training and Development Institute.

Members of the HRD Management Committee include: Mr Graham Higgins (Chairman), Manager, Learning and Development Group, Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd; Mrs Esther Chan, General Manager - Human Resources, Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation; Ms Winnie Chiu, Human Resources Manager (Corporate Services), The Hong Kong Jockey Club; Mr Steve Chow, Administration Manager (Services & Planning),The Hong Kong Jockey Club; Ms Wendy Mak, Director, ResourcePlus Ltd; Ms Rosemary Moore, Head of HR Consulting Practice, East Asia, PWC Consulting Hong Kong Ltd; Mr William Ng, Director, Civil Service Training and Development Institute and Miss H M Tong, Assistant General Manager, Head of Human Resources Division, Hang Seng Bank Ltd.
