The Hong Kong Management Association Provides a Wide Range of Logistics Programmes to Enhance Hong Kong's Advantages in Logistics Development
9/1/2002
With its unique geographical advantage and excellent infrastructure,
Hong Kong is well equipped to become a leading logistics and multi-modal
transport centre. To accelerate the further development of Hong
Kong into an international transport and logistics hub which links
the Mainland with the world, an efficient, reliable and well-connected
port and airport will not be the only factor. Hong Kong needs a
well-trained, creative and versatile workforce with specialized
knowledge and expertise in logistics. In view of this, The Hong
Kong Management Association provides a wide range of logistics and
supply management programmes to help executives who desire to acquire

According to a recent survey conducted by the Association, there
was a tremendous increase in the enrolment of courses related to
logistics management. In 2000, about 250 executives participated
in different logistics programmes offered by the Association ranging
from Certificate to Master Degree programmes. In 2001, the enrolment
increased significantly to more than 700. It indeed reflects the
increasing awareness of the importance of logistics and shipping
management in the local business community.
The survey also revealed that participants in these programmes came
from different management levels including frontline executives
such as supervisors, clerical staff; middle-level executives such
as assistant managers, officers; and executives from senior management
such as senior managers and directors. In terms of different trades,
most of them worked in Wholesale, Retail and I/E firms, Manufacturing
as well as Transportation and Communications companies.
In view of the market demand, the Association will continue to
offer diversified and high quality courses to help train up more
logistics professionals.
