Overview

Instead of doing business via physical facilities, voluminous commercial transactions have migrated online coupled with growing complexity. Legal framework for cyber-commerce have invariably been strengthened in terms of scope and speed. To accommodate the expanding legal controls against on-line business, adequate understanding of relevant legal issues is important for stakeholders to build trust among various parties by knowing their respective rights and obligations.

This course provides a solid foundation to learn about the complexities of legal frameworks for cyber-commerce, focusing on the issue of advertising on-line, computer crimes, copyright and trade-marks, personal data, electronic contract, and anti-spam regulation.

Mr Lee, Yiu Kuen Louis

Mr Lee, an ex-superintendent of Hong Kong Customs, a veteran criminal investigator on copyright and counterfeiting, and
an experienced prosecutor in magistrate’s court against smuggling and drugs traffi cking; piracy of intellectual property rights
and counterfeiting. Mr Lee is also well versed with personal data management; business laws including contract law and
company law, and anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist fi nancing legislations.

He received his Master Degree of Social Science in Criminology and the Master Degree of Public Administration from the
University of Hong Kong. He also received his Bachelor Degree of Economics and Finance from the Chinese University
of Hong Kong. He was awarded the Certificate of Law Enforcement Advanced Management from the International Law
Enforcement Academy-Roswell, US Department of State, USA; and the Certificate of Merit on criminal enforcement of
Intellectual Property Rights by the World Customs Organization.

He has held lectures on part-time basis for various tertiary institutions and adult education organizations on business law,
criminal justice, criminology, fraud and corporate crime, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist fi nancing. In particular,
he also runs courses on contract law and company law for the United International College (Beijing Normal University – Hong
Kong Baptist University) in ZhuiHai, China.
